BLACKPINK Become First Girl Group & Third K-Pop Act to Hit No. 1 on Artist 100 Chart

Written by on October 14, 2020

With BTS at No. 2, K-pop acts claim the top two for the first time.

BLACKPINK surges from No. 65 to No. 1 on the Billboard Artist 100 chart (dated Oct. 17) to become the top musical act in the U.S. for the first time, thanks to the group’s debut full-length The Album. The set opens at No. 2 on the Billboard 200 with 110,000 equivalent album units, according to Nielsen Music/MRC Data.

BLACKPINK becomes the first all-female group to lead the Artist 100, dating to the chart’s 2014 inception.

The four-piece is also the third K-pop act to top the Artist 100, following BTS, which has ruled for 10 weeks, a record among duos or groups, and SuperM, which led for a week last year.
